Follow the information posted before !

I get a faster sync than you on a higher attenuation.

Modulation: G.992.5 annex A
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 1,325 / 15,192
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 17.0 / 32.5
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 5.5 / 3.0

Are you sure that you are not on annex M and losing some download speed due to that ?

Posting fuller stats can help.

Hmm I wonder why you can't find out what Annex you are on.

You need to do this via a command line not the router GUI

Simplest way to be sure would be to call your ISP and ask them to set you to Annex A.

Are you in at the test socket underneath the cover of your BT master socket?

EDIT: Just checked an earlier post where you said you can get over 16 meg from the test socket - this means your extension wiring is at fault and you need a filtered faceplate to stop it interfering with the ADSL.

Here's a link to my guide on installing a filtered faceplate:

http://www.techbroadband.net/forums/spe ... plate.html

you can't get a better sync rate on the extension because it is the wire itself causing the ADSL to slow down. the router needs to stay at the master socket with a filtered faceplate, and use an ethernet cable to bring the broadband upstairs. That's the only way to preserve the stats you get at the test socket

Three's second post sais he got over 16 meg from the test socket, so the line's capable, just upto Three to put the right kit in to take advantage of it ;)

thanks for the replys.

using a netgear as i prefer that to the box supplied.

what u think of this i been told this also by a tech guy.

change to a filtered socket on master and run a dedicated wire to ex box and plug router in.
