Harman to ban "chairman" as sexist

Postby Alecto » 09 Feb 2010, 09:17

little story from the Mail shows this government has nothing more urgent to worry about than political correctness.

Seems the daft Harman is proposing to force MPs instead to refer to "chair" or "occupant of the chair" instead of the sexist term "Chairman".

It's always struck me as odd that PC idiots insisted on referring to a person sitting on a chair as "the chair" instead of chairman or chairwoman.
The chairperson is nothing like a chair usually

But there you go.
Who said we get the politicians we deserve?
I'd kill for a Nobel peace prize.

That woman irritates the life out of me, she seems to be the most sexist person in the House, she only cares about women's issues. :x

If "Chairman" is not acceptable (there are many female "Chairmen"), surely "Chairperson" is the obvious choice? - Or am I just too sensible? Of course common sense is an anathema to politicians.

Screw this political correctness guff. Why on earth do we spend so much time correcting what people say god forbid it should hurt someone's feelings. They should go out in the streets and see how people really talk to each other for god sake and not the carefully selected. Most real people don't care what you say to them.

If they (politicians) were doing the job they were suppose to do they wouldn't have time for this rubbish. This political correctness is another thing thats lost it's way and abused as is Labour from day 1.

Don't the politicians have more important things to be doing, like getting a country out of bankruptcy that they wont admit to rather than faffing about with silly names. Politicians have their god damn priorities backwards for crying out loud!

Hardly surprising when all the guys care about is getting their moat cleand out
Most of the firms I have worked in the last 10 years used the term Chairperson ,

Although I was stopped from using "manhole cover" in reports
I toyed with "Womanhole cover ", but wisely settled for access cover ,

Women in politics have a tough time , look at Margret Thatcher ,
on second thoughts you look at her, I couldent stand her either
I started out with nothin , and I still got most of it left !

Can't disagree with any of that.
Love Roco's "womanhole cover"

As with religion and everything else, a few extremist idiots decide to go all PC and the rest of the country, instead of saying "Don't be so stupid", give in and start saying,"Well, they do have a point......"
Extremists and PC idiots will always win in the face of moderates trying to be reasonable.
I used to have a boss who was determined to see everybody else's point of view, however stupid they were, and his opening line was always "Well, to be fair..." and that phrase gets me boiling over to this day.
